Dalva Ringote announces “redynamization” of programs to combat poverty and drought

The new Minister of State for the Social Area, Dalva Ringote, announced this Monday the “redynamisation” of programs to combat poverty, drought and intervention in municipalities and deepen the dialogue with civil society.

The official, sworn in this Monday in the post, said that the social sector occupies a central place in the agenda of the new executive, guaranteeing coordinated work so that central and local projects can have an impact on the lives of the population.

"Especially in those located in neuralgic regions, we are going to work hard and revitalize some programs, such as the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty, the Program for Combating Drought, the PIIM [Integrated Program for Intervention in Municipalities]", she said this Monday to journalists.

Education and health programs must also be revived: "Therefore, there are a number of challenges that we have to work in conjunction with the sectors to ensure their implementation", she noted.

Speaking on the way out of the Presidential Palace, in Luanda, where she was sworn in by the President, João Lourenço, the official said that the aforementioned revitalization of the programs aim to guarantee the well-being of families, women and young people.

"We will seek to revitalize to ensure leverage and that more families and women and younger people can be effectively impacted with these ongoing programs", she stressed.

According to Dalva Ringote, her action will also be aimed at deepening the articulation and consultation with civil society, "especially the youth" and having a space for "dialogue in a systematic and continuous way".

"We are going to privilege cooperation and the dynamism of cooperatives, especially those in rural areas so that all entities can benefit from all the incentives that the executive has made available to the economy", she concluded.

João Lourenço this Monday swore in the 18 governors of the provinces, the ministers of State, ministers and staff of his cabinet with a view to the new 2022-2027 legislature, after the fifth general elections held on 24 August.
