The Quilemba plant should have an additional 45 MW in a second phase.
Construction of the plant is expected to start in 2023, its entry into operation is scheduled for 2024 and the unit's concession lasts for 25 years.
The Quilemba project will be carried out in the "independent energy producer" model, where the entire investment, not disclosed in the company's statement, is ensured by the project's promoters (TotalEnergies Angola with 51 percent, Sonagás, a subsidiary of Sonangol, with 30 percent and Greentech with 19 percent).
When commissioned, the solar park will supply energy to the national grid, allowing for fuel savings estimated at over 20 million dollars per year, compared to existing thermal plants.
TotalEnergies employs 1,500 people in Angola and represents more than 45 percent of the country's oil production.
Greentech is an Angolan company founded in 2012 that has been active since 2016 in the analysis and development of renewable energy projects, and is currently developing a project of 50,000 solar home systems that will cover all provinces of Angola.
