The event, which takes place under the motto "One day to stay awake", will be open for two days (Thursday and Friday), from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the MOPIC Pavilion, in Viana, in the capital. Establishing itself as a first in the country, this is an initiative of the National Coffee Institute (INCA), with free entry.
The opening of the event was attended by the Secretary of State for Forests, André Moda, as well as the general director of INCA, Bonifácio Francisco. For the head of the national institute, the need to promote coffee production at national level is linked to the fact that this is a source of income for the livelihood of several families all over the country.
He added that, throughout the festival, topics such as "Coffee Richness of Angola", "Mechanized Coffee Production Systems", "Coffee Marketing and Exportation" and "Funding for Angolan Coffee" will be discussed.
In addition, there will also be a coffee quality contest, divided by region.
One of the festival's participants, the administrator of the Vissolela farm, praised the organization of the event, adding that so far it has produced more than 160 tons of coffee. Located in Cuanza Sul, the farm managed by Énio Miranda aims to reach 400 tons next year.
The National Coffee Festival is part of the commemorative days of the World Coffee Day, marked on 1 October. It should be remembered that Angola was already the third largest producer of this grain in the world.

Starting today, Viana will be the “coffee capital” by hosting more than 20 exhibitors – including coffee growers, exporters, traders and financers – in the sector, who participate in the first National Coffee Festival.
