Quoted in a statement made available on the government website, João Lourenço said that this work "is too important" to be stopped.
"It is a project that provides jobs, and not only provides jobs, but once concluded it will certainly increase a lot the energy production capacity, not only for this province, but for the country", he considered.
Speaking at the end of his two-day visit to Kwanza Norte, the Head of State said that Wednesday afternoon he would receive the CEO of the chinese company in charge of the dam project: "Coincidentally, I will receive the CEO of the chinese company in charge of the Caculo-Cabaça Project today [Wednesday] afternoon. Furthermore, to announce that with own resources, ordinary resources of the treasury, we made in the last days a payment that we consider to be sufficient to prevent the paralysis of the work".
João Lourenço considered that the hydroelectric dams of Capanda, Laúca and Caculo-Cabaça will "feed a good part of the country with the transport lines that go from there to the center, south and east of Angola".
