CASA-CE contests election results that “do not reflect the electoral truth expressed at the polls by the people”

xThe Broad Convergence for the Salvation of Angola-Electoral Coalition (CASA-CE) announced this Tuesday that it will not recognize the electoral results announced on Monday and that it will exhaust all legal mechanisms so that, for the first time, the electoral truth is restored.

According to a statement released on the social network Facebook by the coalition, one of the eight party forces that competed in last Wednesday's general elections, having lost the 16 seats it had in parliament, the decision was taken by the presidential college of CASA-CE.

The party understands that the final results released by the National Electoral Commission (CNE), on Monday, which gave victory, for the fifth time, to the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), "do not reflect the electoral truth expressed at the polls by the sovereign people of Angola".

CASA-CE lodged a complaint with the electoral body and guarantees that "it will exhaust, under the terms of the Constitution and the law, all legal mechanisms so that, for the first time, the electoral truth in Angola is restored".

The party's president, Manuel Fernandes, promises to talk "in the near future" about the acts carried out by the coalition in favor of restoring electoral truth, and about "acts harmful to the voting process".

"CASA-CE repeatedly appeals to serenity, courage, firmness and good cheer to its militants and to all the Angolan people interested in restoring electoral truth and fairness", concludes the note.

In addition to CASA-CE, other opposition parties such as the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) and the Social Renewal Party (PRS) have announced that they do not recognize the results and will file complaints with the legal authorities.
