The new news channel, which will broadcast 24 hours a day from this Monday, precedes the launch on 18 October of another channel, dedicated to culture and sport, which results from the merger of TPA 2 and Palanca TV, which was owned by Manuel Rabelais, Minister of Communication in the last government of José Eduardo dos Santos, and passed to the State in August 2020.

Cabingano Manuel, the channel's information director, stressed that everything is prepared to keep the viewer informed, with national and international content, and a group of communication professionals who will be attentive to the facts "that make the country's current affairs and beyond", with the team having been reinforced with over 40 professionals, including technicians and journalists.

Asked about the electoral coverage of the new channel belonging to TPA, a frequent target of accusations of bias by opposition parties, namely UNITA, the official highlighted that the work of journalists from the public station is "permanently scrutinized" and they will "continue to do the best".

"Criticism is normal for the performance of any organ, it is not a question of giving more airtime to opposition parties, we have a range of elements to give visibility to the opposition, the government party, civil society", he listed.

For Cabingano Manuel, with TPA Noticias it will be easier to give visibility to the main events, since a 24-hour channel lives on information.

"There is a window here that does not close, the opportunities for civil society, political parties or churches are not exhausted", he said, adding that "television belongs to everyone" and "there is work that is being done so that the visibility of national and international society is comprehensive",

On whether there will be an opportunity to interview the president of the main opposition party, Adalberto da Costa Júnior, who has led the party since 2019, but has never been interviewed by Angolan public television, he stressed that the news channel will make the most of what it produces from the news point of view and concluded: "Obviously everyone will have their moment on television, it's normal".

He reinforced, on the other hand, that TPA has "a commitment to quality public service and that is what our approach is based on".

The Government, as the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Manuel Homem, at the inauguration, said again this Monday, made a significant investment in the technological reconversion of TPA, having already invested around 37 million dollars (36,5 million euros) in the first modernization phase.

More recently, President João Lourenço authorized the expenditure of more than 39 million dollars (39 million euros) for the acquisition of technological infrastructures and equipment for the public television station.
