According to a statement from the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Women Promotion (MASFAMU), to which VerAngola had access, this initiative – called 'Portal da Criança' (www.portalcriança.gov.ao) – aims to publicize the services that exist for the benefit of children in the country, facilitating the dissemination of childcare centers and their location, adoption procedures and the municipalization of child protection actions.

In addition, this portal will also contribute to the location and family reunification, statistics on the situation of the child, among other services.

The note also mentions that this platform will allow each citizen, regardless of where they are, to obtain information about the creation and services in favor of it.

For the success of the initiative, the tutelage, through INAC, will work together with ministerial departments, provincial governments, municipal administrations and civil society institutions, in order to "support the portal with updated information".

The launch of the project – which is part of the child-related strategies and complements the SOS-criança initiative – took place during the closing ceremony of the 2022 child journey.

On the occasion, Paulo Kalesi, director general of INAC, informed that the platform will make it possible to register street children, orphans, among others.

The Secretary of State for Education, Pacheco Francisco, quoted by Angop, indicated that throughout the day, organizations that work in favor of children's rights were brought together and social agents were alerted to the responsibility of educating and instilling values in children.

Bruno Pedro, head of the department for the prevention and protection of violence against children, presented some data on SOS-criança. According to the official, quoted by Angop, the number of cases of violence against children has reduced: in the first quarter of this year there were 522 cases against the 1376 registered in the first three months of last year.

Ivan Yorevi, UNICEF representative in Angola, who was also present at the event, pointed out that violence against children is neither normal nor acceptable and that agents must unite to solve this problem, writes Angop.
