National Pilot Exam will “test” more than 2000 students later this month

A total of 2100 students from the country's 18 provinces will be submitted to the National Pilot Exam. This project aims to design and test a system of National Examinations, the results of which still do not influence students' school progression.

:

The tests are scheduled for the 23rd and 24th of June and test students from the 6th and 12th grades – selected at random – in the subjects of Portuguese Language and Mathematics. Students, from all provinces of the country, will be distributed among 37 examination centers (schools).

The capital, Luanda, will have five centers spread over three municipalities: Luanda, Cazenga and Belas.

According to the Secretary of State for General Education, Gildo Matias, the exams aim to assess whether the objectives of the education system were in line with what was planned during the academic year. Cited by Angop, the official also stated that the choice of these two classes is due to the fact that they represent the end of two academic cycles, primary and secondary.

This year, and as it is a pilot project, the exams are not reflected in the students' academic performance, not having the capacity to pass or fail students, being carried out only to assess the levels of learning and teaching and to create conditions for the implementation of this type of evaluation.

The Pilot National Exam intends to gradually increase the number of the sample, in order to increasingly allow a better assessment of the national education system, as well as the measures to be implemented for its improvement. In this way, 240 technicians were selected to prepare, classify and apply the tests.

For the implementation of this project, the Ministry of Education has the support of 10 technicians from the Portuguese institute responsible for exams in the country (IAVE). In Angola, the process is coordinated by the MED Development Institute.
