FLEC volta a denunciar intervenção do exército contra civis cabindas na RDCongo

The independence organization of the Angolan enclave of Cabinda denounced in a statement the death of three minors from the territory on Friday night, as a result of a coordinated attack by the Angolan army and militias.

In the statement, signed by the secretary general of the Liberation Front of the State of Cabinda (FLEC), Jacinto António Télica, it is added that the attackers "raped seven women in the village of Mpata, which is 15 kilometers from the refugee camp of Cabinda de Sekesele, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRCongo), in Kongo-Central".

"Angolan FAA soldiers raped women at gunpoint and beat men who tried to defend their wives and daughters", the note also reads, in which the independence organization reiterates its "condemnation of the multiple violations and attacks on human rights and humanitarian law".

FLEC-FAC also accuses Angolan security forces and pro-government militias of Luanda of carrying out "extrajudicial executions" in DRDCongo and the Republic of Congo.

"These practices amount to repetitive acts of state terrorism and assume the characteristics of extrajudicial executions subject to judicial action by Organs competent bodies of the United Nations system. The UN Security Council must impose sanctions and mobilize the International Criminal Court", defends the Cabin organization.

In this sense, the independence activists appeal to the UN Security Council, the President (of the Republic of Congo) Denis Sassou-Nguesso and the European Union to "refer the situation in Cabinda to the International Criminal Court (ICC), impose an embargo on the sale of arms to the Angolan Government and impose sanctions on Angolan officials and Angolan generals implicated in serious human rights violations".

For several years, FLEC has been fighting for the independence of the territory, from where much of the national oil comes, claiming that the enclave was a Portuguese protectorate, as established in the Treaty of Simulambuco, signed in 1885, and not an integral part of the territory. angolan

However, the Government refuses to recognize a situation of instability in that province, always stressing the unity of the territory.
