Minister assures that there is no rupture of goods from the basic basket. National production “gains space”

The Minister of Industry and Commerce assured that the country has no rupture in the 'stock' of food products, so there is no justification for speculating prices and added that national production "has room to be channeled".

Victor Fernandes, who was speaking to journalists during visits to Luanda's logistical infrastructures and commercial establishments, was "satisfied" with the logistical capacity associated with food distribution.

"We found some national production already being distributed in the various spaces and it is going well, we are on the right path, but we still lack a lot of what is our objective," he said, after visiting five commercial areas in Luanda.

For the government official, who defends the need for Angola to "win the battle" to change its food assortment, "which has to be mostly national production", despite several actions, national production "is still not enough for food needs" .

But, he guaranteed, "all the production that exists here has a space to be channeled and the operators are oriented so that all the production that exists and that exists will have here in the distribution logistics operators a space to be disposed of".

Asked by Lusa about the country's logistics chain and the level of 'stock' of products, especially in the basic basket for the coming months, the minister stated that the country "has one of the best logistics chains" and that there is no break in 'stocks'. .

"It is obvious that there may be a need here or there to improve supply, but we do not have a 'stock' rupture, we have some national production, we have logistics operators focused on guaranteeing distribution and that encourages us," said the minister.

Regarding the persistent speculation of product prices, essentially of the basic basket, Victor Fernandes said that "in all markets there are opportunistic desires", but noted, "there is currently no justification for speculation".

"We are, in fact, with the inspection mechanisms to combat this and we have no justification for price speculation. Now, markets as areas of free and open competition will always have serious and not very serious people", he noted.

The official's view focused on the large commercial areas and logistical infrastructures of the industrial center of the municipality of Viana, in Luanda, and some of the city center, where he applauded the "resilience capacity" of the operators.

The Minister of Industry and Commerce visited the logistical bases of the frozen food importer and distributor Newaco Grupo, of the supermarket chain Shoprite, Casa dos Frescos, of the supermarket chain Maxi and Pomobel.
