Filipe Zau, who was speaking this Wednesday at the opening of the 12th Meeting of Ministers of Culture of the CPLP, taking place in Luanda, defended the need to continually renew the spirit of belonging to the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).
"Increasingly, we will have to know who we are, in the community we are in," he maintained.
"It is necessary to put the different perspectives of our common memory in permanent dialogue, as it is difficult to advance towards the recommended objectives, without, first, being able to look, without fear and without mistrust, to the rear view of time", said the minister.
Filipe Zau considered culture as the "turntable capable of demonstrating the desire for fraternity that we want our States and peoples to assume".
The desire for fraternity must be assumed, "going beyond the political discourses of circumstance, often trivialized by simple rhetoric, without, subsequently, operationalizing the primal purposes of our organization".
Culture in the CPLP and its identity aspects are the axes of this meeting.
For the minister, the documents being discussed at the meeting "are excellent instruments for carrying out the purposes defined by the CPLP, an organization that looks at history and culture as means of supporting development."
Angola leads, since July 2021, the rotating presidency of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries and Luanda is from 29 April to 5 May 2022 "Capital of Culture of the CPLP 2022".
Several activities in the cultural field take place in Luanda, namely artistic-cultural, historical-scientific and tourist activities to mark the event "Luanda Capital of Culture of the CPLP 2022", as recalled Filipe Zau.
The CPLP executive secretary said, in his opening speech, that the meeting constitutes an "excellent opportunity to strengthen existing friendly relations between the Member States and to consolidate the historical and cultural ties that unite us".
Zacarias da Costa also considered the occasion an "opportune moment" to assess the degree of implementation of the CPLP Multilateral Cultural Cooperation Action Plan developed in the period between 2004 and 2020.
"And ensure the continuity of our activities through the approval of the next strategic document for 2022-2026 and the respective action plans", he stressed.
