UNITA accuses MPLA of promoting “miserable propaganda” to conserve political power

UNITA accused the MPLA of "using miserable propaganda as a privileged mechanism for conserving political power" and of "using public money to buy political opponents".

:

In a statement from the executive secretariat of the political committee's permanent committee, the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), considers that the country is experiencing a "dangerous setback" for the democratic and legal state.

According to UNITA, the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) "created offices for institutional propaganda and psychological action that violate the law and laws of the Republic, injure democracy and the rule of law".

"They use public money to serve the party that governs and, on a daily basis, they practice acts of state terrorism, paying attention to harmony and peace", reads the statement.

In its view of the current socio-political situation in Angola, UNITA considers that the country "is hungry, is miserable and in all areas of life and alternation is a necessity for all citizens".

UNITA considers that the "oligarchy that captured the State 46 years ago, stole and continues to steal Angola, disgraced and continues to disgrace Angolans, is desperately and deliberately shooting against its president, Adalberto Costa Júnior, in an attempt to destabilize and overshadow your leadership. "

To dispel the controversy over the nationality of its leader, the executive secretariat of the UNITA political committee's permanent committee reaffirms that Costa Júnior "resigned and lost the acquired Portuguese nationality" as the "processes examined" by the Constitutional Court confirm.

In the note, it is also considered that the President's administration, João Lourenço, is "destroying the difficult achievements of the peace period", through "the abusive use of state media organs transformed into instruments of political propaganda".

The "lack of clarification of the institutionalization of local authorities, the resignation of the State from its social function, namely the neglect of the consequences of drought, hunger, and shortages, when millions of dollars' bags are diverted" are also pointed out by UNITA as factors that " disrupt the conquests of peace ".

For UNITA, "political intolerance grows at the level of Angola as the objective of installing fear in order to perpetuate itself in power" and "selectivity persists in the country in the process of fighting corruption.

"The broad front for the alternation of power, led by UNITA, is the hope that feeds the soul of Angolans today", the statement added.
