PR: “We need to attract pharmaceutical multinationals to set up factories in Angola”

The President of the Republic said, this Wednesday, in his opening speech at Expo-Indústria, that it is necessary to attract “the pharmaceutical industry multinationals to set up factories in Angola” in order to produce medicines and vaccines “that we consume”, as well as as “exporting the surplus”.

"We need to attract pharmaceutical multinationals to set up factories in Angola to produce the medicines and vaccines we consume and export the surplus", said the head of state, who was speaking within the scope of the opening of the 5th edition of Expo-Indústria, which was inaugurated by itself this Wednesday.

The textile sector, food production, the extractive and transforming industry of granite and ornamental rocks, salt refining and also metalworking were some of the examples he gave in terms of the development of national production value chains, from raw materials press down to the transformed product.

João Lourenço also spoke of the start-up of three textile factories, to boost the clothing and fashion industries, the growth of the agro-industry and the need to develop other sectors, such as mills, tanneries, shipyards, fisheries, and health, among others.

In addition, he also appealed to private investors who want to invest in the naval industry with shipyards for the construction and repair of vessels for the oil, fishing and merchant industries in view of the prospect of resuming the exploitation of iron ore and its transformation into steel.

Remember that João Lourenço inaugurated, this Wednesday, the 5th edition of Expo-Indústria. After the opening speech, the head of state proceeded to cut the ribbon, having then carried out a detailed visit to the event.

Expo-Indústria kicked off this Wednesday, March 29, in the Special Economic Zone (ZEE) Luanda-Bengo, where it will run until Saturday, April 1.
