"For opening this year we have three hospitals, we have the hospital in Cuanza Norte, Cuanza Sul, and this hospital in Bengo. We are also going to complete the hospital in Zaire and next year we will have many more hospitals", assured the minister, who was speaking last Friday, as part of a fact-finding visit to the construction of the main hospital in Bengo province.

On the occasion, the minister informed that the Hospital Geral do Bengo will start operating in the third quarter of this year.

"What we want is for both the contractor, the supervisor and our technical teams from the central body and the provincial government to be able to work together so that in the third quarter we can inaugurate this important undertaking for the province", said the official, quoted in a note from the Ministry of Health, which VerAngola had access to.

The holder of the Health portfolio also stressed that hospital units will be built "in those provinces that do not have general level hospitals with differentiated service conditions in all aspects such as surgery, medicine, intensive care and hemodialysis", reads the statement.

Sílvia Lutucuta also assured that, at the moment, they have "projects for Lunda Norte and Uíge", adding that they will "conclude the hospital in Zaire".

"We have projects for Malanje, Catumbela, Bailundo, in addition to these we also have mother and child hospitals in Benguela, Huambo and Huíla", she added, quoted in the note.

"Questioned about the hemodialysis units, the official added that they are also working on hemodialysis for provinces that do not have them because it is always a great challenge for provinces that do hemodialysis", adds the statement.

The future hospital, adds the note, is being built in an area of 45,500 square meters and will have 200 beds and services in "neonatology, intensive care, orthopedics, obstetrics, surgery, burns, internal medicine, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology, dentistry , psychiatry, gastroenterology, hemodialysis, among others".

Equipment for General Hospital of Cuanza Sul already acquired

Sílvia Lutucuta, who also observed the progress of the construction work on the Hospital Geral do Cuanza Sul, informed that the equipment for the future hospital unit has already been purchased.

"All the equipment for the hospital has already been acquired and conditions are being created for storing the equipment until the completion of the works and its installation", revealed the minister, quoted in another statement from the ministry, which VerAngola had access to.

According to the minister, "precise recommendations were left to the contractor" to reinforce the teams, "mainly those specialized ones".

According to the statement, the aforementioned hospital, with capacity for 200 beds, "is part of the three health units to be inaugurated in the third quarter of this year".
