PR authorizes a budget of 212 million dollars for the first phase of the PROÁGUA project

The first phase of the implementation of the PROÁGUA project – Plano Luanda 2022, which aims to improve the water distribution network, has funding of US$212 million, already authorized by President João Lourenço.

In presidential order n.º54/23 of 22 March, João Lourenço authorizes the conclusion of the financing agreement between the Republic of Angola, represented by the Ministry of Finance and the British financial institution Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in the aforementioned amount.

The financing agreement, says the dispatch to which Lusa had access, is covered by the French Export Credit Agency (BPI France), for financing 85 percent of the value of the commercial contract and 100 percent of the BPI insurance for the materialization of the project.

The presidential diploma also authorizes the signing of a financing agreement between the aforementioned institutions in the global amount of 32.2 million euros to finance the "down payment" of the aforementioned commercial contract and 100 percent of the risk mitigation fee.

The PROÁGUA project, created by the Government, aims to reinforce the operational capacity of EPAL-EP (Empresa Pública de Águas de Luanda) with the objective of increasing the production of existing systems, improving the water distribution network and optimized operation with reduced losses. associated networks.
