South Korean organization intends to invest 20 million dollars in Porto Amboim Estaleiro Naval

About 20 million dollars is the amount that the South Korean Economic Development Association (AKEDA) plans to invest in the production of boats and other materials to support the oil industry on Angolan soil. With this project, it is estimated that around 7000 jobs will be created.

According to information provided this Monday by Siwoo Chung, secretary general of AKEDA, the organization chose Porto Amboim Estaleiro Naval (PAENAL) to implement the project, as this infrastructure meets "all the necessary conditions".

"We found all the necessary conditions in PAENAL", he said, quoted by Angop, adding that they are now going, "together with Sonangol and the Angolan Government, to design a project for its implementation", he added.

The project, in a first phase, will be dedicated to the "manufacture of small boats", later moving to medium and large, with a budget of US$20 million, he said.

With this project it is estimated the creation of around 7000 jobs.

In turn, Vladimir Machado, director of Sonangol's Research and Development Center, indicated that "the relationship between Sonangol and AKEDA will be developed jointly, that is, to be discussed and defined".

Also quoted by Angop, the official considered that "this is an opportunity for PAENAL to be used for FPSO equipment and the manufacture of support boats for the oil industry".
