"To carry out the upcoming international matches, it is necessary to recover the aforementioned equipment that the Tundavala Stadium needs to see resolved", informed Palmira Barbosa, who was speaking this Monday, as part of a two-day visit to Huíla to verify the sporting and social infrastructures in that province which are supervised by the ministry.
In this sense, the holder of the Youth and Sports portfolio informed that works for the rehabilitation of the electronic board and the change of the current lockers to more modern ones will begin in the next few days, writes Angop.
Cited by Angop, the minister made it known that the plan for the contract also includes the placement of a synthetic carpet in order to exclude impediments resulting from the practice of sports, according to the guidelines of the African Football Confederation, and that the works will be carried out by a national company already chosen.
Palmira Barbosa did not reveal the value of the investment earmarked for rehabilitation nor the deadline for the start of the contract, but she stressed that the works should be completed before the 20th of January, since on the 26th the approval or not of the stadium for the realization of international matches by the confederation will be communicated.
On his turn, Nuno Mahapi, governor of the province of Huíla, also cited by Angop, referred that although the large sports infrastructures are dependent on the tutelage, the provincial government is discovering strategies to rehabilitate them, in order to collaborate for the progress of the "queen sport" in the country and being able to host games at all levels.
Regarding the Multipurpose Pavilion of Nossa Senhora do Monte, he indicated that the provincial government and the guardianship are working in an articulated way so that the pavilion acquires a new appearance while regarding the youth infrastructures of Lubango and Humpata, the person in charge, cited by Angop, highlighted that this is an initiative to be implemented again this year, within the framework of the Integrated Plan of Intervention in Municipalities.
In her first visit to Huíla, the minister has planned in her work agenda for this Tuesday a visit to the Multipurpose Pavilion of Nossa Senhora do Monte, to the Casa da Juventude of Palanca, to the Youth Community Center of Lubango and a meeting with local sports associations.
