Sílvia Lutucuta calls for the population to join vaccination posts against covid-19

An appeal for the population to adhere to vaccination posts against covid-19 was made this Wednesday by Sílvia Lutucuta, Minister of Health, who stressed that the national authorities are concerned about the growth in the number of cases of covid-19 in Europe and China and therefore citizens must complete all stages of the vaccine to be protected against the disease.

The minister, in statements to the press, quoted by Angop, emphasized that citizens who have already taken the two doses of the vaccine should take the "third and fourth", since "many of the first doses are no longer valid".

"For those who have already taken the two doses, they should take the third and fourth, because many of the first doses are no longer valid, requiring compliance with the complete cycle", she said, quoted by Angop.

Sílvia Lutucuta underlined that the vaccine is still the only way to prevent covid-19, together with measures such as wearing a mask and washing hands with soap and water.

Cited by Angop, the official also informed that the country will continue with the same epidemiological plan for passengers coming from abroad, thus going through individual and collective protection measures and carrying out tests, at the place of origin, 48 hours before boarding.

Sílvia Lutucuta also took the opportunity to mention that "in Europe, cases are increasing", adding that in the country there are several families who spent Christmas abroad, ultimately contributing to the "considerable increase in the number of cases of covid-19".

"In Europe, cases are on the rise. Here in our country we have many families who spent Christmas abroad, which has contributed to the considerable increase in the number of cases of covid-19. Therefore, we must continue to pay more attention and comply with biosecurity measures," she said, quoted by Angop.

Assuring that the epidemiological surveillance teams will continue with the random screening work, the minister said that there are still "external factors of people who have traveled and that despite having negative tests does not mean that they have not been exposed and that they cannot come to have covid-19".

As for deaths from covid-19, she said that there have been few, however, she stressed that some citizens, especially those with comorbidities, end up dying, writes Angop.
