Journalist Salgueiro Vicente died of “acute respiratory failure”

The death certificate of journalist Salgueiro Vicente, found dead in his home on Wednesday, points to “acute respiratory failure” as the cause of death of the communication professional, was announced last Thursday.

The autopsy report on the corpse of the journalist from Rádio Ecclesia – Emissora Católica de Angola, produced by legal medicine specialists in Luanda, was released by the victim's relatives.

The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) announced that it was investigating the death of the journalist, 35 years old, found lifeless in his residence on Wednesday morning, referring that the corpse would be submitted to a medico-legal examination.

A familiar source admitted that it was "sudden death", but on Thursday the autopsy results, released in Luanda, point to "acute respiratory failure", as referred to in the document signed by the SIC.

The Angolan journalist class, particularly colleagues from the editorial staff of Rádio Ecclesia, has expressed sadness and shock at the death of the 35-year-old professional.

The bishops of the Episcopal Conference of Angola and São Tomé (CEAST), which owns the Catholic radio, also expressed their dismay.

In a condolence note, the Angolan Journalists Union expresses itself "dismayed by the death of journalist Salgueiro Vicente", noting that the class and Rádio Ecclesia "lose one of its most promising journalists, committed to an impartial and plural journalism".
