Asked whether the corruption charges related to the 'Luanda Leaks', Vera Daves said, speaking to Euronews in Davos, Switzerland, that the investigations "are taking place on so many levels that it is a pity that only part of them are media".

"I think we have to respect the work of the judicial bodies and see the results of that reach our society, with a normalization of the way business is managed, the way public services are provided, and the way goods and services are delivered to our citizens", said Vera Daves to Euronews.

The finance minister, present at the world economic forum in Davos, said it was "clear" that part of the government's agenda is the fight against corruption. "Of course, part of our agenda is to fight corruption, for all entities, for all companies and for all people. Everyone must respect the law," he said, recognizing "some cases are more popular than others".

The minister expressed the wish that whoever acts in Angola, "as a public manager or private investor", should "respect the law." "The judicial bodies are doing their job, ensuring that those who do not respect the law pay the consequences of not to respect it", he added.

Vera Daves also stressed the objective of "maintaining the focus on creating the conditions for Angola's economy to grow in an inclusive way".

"We are on a path to rebuild the confidence of national and international investors in Angola, in the way we do business, and in the way we show ourselves," he said.

For the minister, being in Davos is an "opportunity" to show how Angola intends to "diversify the economy, in a model where oil contributes to seeing more sectors contributing to growth".
